Protect Sensitive Information
Fraudsters attempt to steal customer data using fake phone numbers and emails, pretending to be Cash App representatives.
No one representing Cash App will ever ask for your sign-in code over the phone, on social media, or through any other medium. We will never ask you to send us a payment or provide sensitive information such as your full bank account information or Social Security Number. If you believe that you have fallen victim to a phishing scam, please change your Cash App PIN immediately and report the incident by contacting Cash App Support.
Recognizing and Avoiding Scams
We strongly advise you to do the following before sending a payment:
- Only send to persons you know or to Cash App accounts that have been validated.
- Before mailing, double-check the recipient’s name.
- Make sure $Cashtags is spelled correctly.
- Check for typos in the recipient’s phone number or email address.
Users can also benefit from a viable residential proxy. This will protect your IP address so that you are not the victim of targeted attacks.
COMMON TYPES OF SCAMS:
Scammers frequently target vulnerable people who are in need of assistance, and they frequently make promises that they do not keep after receiving cash. Cash App aspires to be a secure platform for sending and receiving money from friends and family. Before you send a Cash App payment, please keep these recommended practices in mind. It’s probably a fraud if someone says anything that seems too good to be true.
Cash-Flipping
Scammers that claim to be able to “flip” your money will sometimes promise to increase your money if you send them money first, known as a “clearing fee.” These con artists will take your money and never send you anything in exchange. To claim payments, Cash App will never ask for money.
Puppy/Pet Deposit Scam
Scammers will pretend to have litter on the way and ask for a deposit to reserve one of the animals. These con artists typically use phony images, refuse to communicate over the phone, and claim to sell purebred or highly sought-after animals for a very low price. Because Cash App cannot guarantee a return if you do not receive what you paid for, it is better to transmit money via Cash App after meeting the buyer in person and obtaining the products.
Users can also benefit from a viable residential proxy. This will protect your IP address so that you are not the victim of targeted attacks.
Apartment and Home Rentals
Scammers frequently make promises about a product or service without ever giving proof that it exists. This includes promising to locate you a cheap apartment or offering an apartment at a significantly reduced rate, requesting a deposit with or without an application, or enabling a tour of the prospective rental.
Fraudulent Cash Support
You can contact Verified Cash Support in-app or at cash.app/help. Please be cautious of phone numbers that purport to be direct lines to Cash Support on the internet. If you provide third-party access to your account, you might not be able to get your money back.
Cash Support will never ask for your Sign-In Code or PIN, nor will they ask you to transfer payment, make a purchase, download any “remote access” application, or perform any “test” transaction.
